We just got back from a walk, where she swam a lot in the river. However, that river was very cold, thus making puppy cold.

Finally figured out Charis!!
I was on Austin Pets Alive and noticed a dog that looked very similar to Charis.
They said she was a Sheltie mix, which is basically a smaller (15-30 lb) Collie. They have long hair and are hyper herding dogs.
Well, we did a search for sheltie mixes, and there are quite a few that look IDENTICAL to Charis. We think she is a Sheltie-German Shepard mix.
You will notice in all of the photos that Charis has the same eyes, ears, markings, and face shape.
Love,
Lauren

New Bathroom color!
Strangely enough, there are not windows in our bathroom. Before, it was painted a baby blue, which I thought looked terrible with the tan/redish tile.
So our friend Steven helped me paint the bathroom a warm, golden yellow. It is funny because when you turn the light on, the paint color is so sunny that it feels like there is a window!

Portable Washer Machine
Our little house does not have a washer machine. So we started our time here washing all the clothes by hand in the tub. It worked O.K. - the "rinse" cycle was not as thorough as one would like. But it was a lot of work and it was hard to wring out the clothes.
So then we went to the local Laundromat (and strangely enough, there aren't many here in Austin.) It cost about $10 a week to do laundry. Not only that, but I hated going.
Then Bob, our fellowship friend, talked about portable dishwashers. I wondered, "Could there be portable washer machines too?" Sure enough, there are! And for $200 + free shipping from Amazon, we got ourselves a little Haier HLP21N Pulsator 1-Cubic-Foot Portable Washer.
So far, it has been working great. It fits a lot less than most washer (a little less than half) but it cleans them really quickly. Not only that, but it says that it costs $14 a year to operate.
So after about 5 months of not going to the laundromat, we will be saving money and time!
All we do it hook it up to our bathroom sink, turn it on, fill it up, and let it clean! Then we put the clean clothes out on the clothesline to dry.
So far, we love it! Two thumbs way up!

Blue Lacy?
Truman went to the dog park and saw a Blue Lacy there. He said that the dog looked a lot like Charis - only silver instead of sable. Blue Lacy's are a Texas bred working dog, ranging from 30-50 lbs (she's 36 lbs). They are definitely her size and temperament. Who knows! Maybe we have a little Texas Lacy!
Below are some pictures of a Blue Lacy. Charis has a very similar face shape, body shape, and wrinkled smile. She does not have their ears at all though.

Happy Dog
So we were sitting on the floor, playing with Charis, when she jumped up on the couch and snuggled again Truman's head. It was so cute we had to share!
